City at the

Crossroads of History

2014

By Mike Alewitz

This mural was commissioned for the Puffin Gallery of Social Activism, Museum of the City of New York. Red Square is now the home of this portable mural.

Despite the unanimous approval by the museum’s own committee of leading academics and intellectuals, it was censored on political grounds by the museum’s director and the Puffin Foundation.

Shamefully, “fear of funding” led to the silence and coverup of the censorship by the art and progressive media.

So, with great hopes and months of prep, this spread was published in the magazine, Rethinking Marxism, in the hopes of reaching out to a broad audience. Foiled again, as the online article is only available from Routledge Publishing for $50!!

Until now. Read up.
