About Red Square

A Place, Idea & Vision

Once the home of Robert Coit, a prominent figure of New London, later the Drop-In Learning Center, RED SQUARE is being repurposed as a studio, gallery, museum and working-class organizing center.

RED SQUARE walls are adorned with displays chronicling inspiring labor, social and revolutionary movements, including projects in Nicaragua, Mexico, Ukraine, Northern Ireland, the Middle East and throughout the Americas.

RED SQUARE is a work-in-progress paralleling the creation of the Alewitz mural archives at Tamiment Library, New York University, and the Alewitz Digital Archives at Central Connecticut State University, part of the US National Archives.
